ASIA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA(중국)

Asia Philharmonic Orchestra
Asia Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung with musicians of Asian descent to affirm that the diversity of culture and ethnic background can produce not only beautiful music but also deeper harmony and mutual understanding than through any other media.

Asia Philharmonic Orchestra is not a permanent establishment but rather one that is centered more on concerts as a festival orchestra. Making a successful debut in 1997, the orchestra immediately proved to belong to the rank of the best orchestra in Asia. In 1998, Korea's top traditional percussion quartet along with finest musicians held a "Salute to Korea" concert in Tokyo's International Forum Hall and Osaka's Symphony Hall. The purpose of the concert was to support Asian countries having an economic crisis while emphasizing the unity and harmony behind the foundation of Asia Philharmonic.

In an effort to highlight the historical moment of the year 2000, a millennium concert was held, consisting of one hundred musicians from Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and others along with Violinist Sarah Chang.

In 2006, remarkably talented Asian musicians active in thirty-one different orchestras reunited after 6 years and performed superbly. The year 2007 marked the orchestra's ten year anniversary and to celebrate, the orchestra performed in Seoul, Toyama and Tokyo.
